Ever see how Utah handles it's public lands? Try Goblin Valley some time. And the 'School Board' lands? The Feds aren't doing such a great job, but it's better than Utah. Go on SUWA website to get my jist.

You have to be a little afraid of those 2 states with their crazy State Legislators. The land is so valuable, read....ripe for exploitation. Sounds like a GREED disaster to me.

The Feds own nearly 50% of Utah? What exactly is on the land that the state wants? *The state is angry that it has missed opportunities to develop and mine lands managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. *...we feel that we have federal land management policies that ignore the needs of the state, county or local residents. *...not responsive to local needs. Sorry about that Utah, federal law and ownership over states rights. 12/22/2012!

Start worrying if the National Parks and Forests have signs in Mandarin Chinese at the entrances.

Less government the better. Especially with the current clueless administration.

There is also concern that access to state-owned or private lands will be increasingly restricted by Congress or even with the stroke of a president's pen, which happened in 1996 when President Bill Clinton created the 1.9-million-acre Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. Good for Utah who is poised to become the first state to pass a package of bills that demand the federal government relinquish claims to huge sections of public land. A proposal that advanced Wednesday demands that by 2014 the federal government cede control of nearly 30 million acres -- nearly 50 percent of the entire state. More States need to take their STATES BACK!!!!

When this nation was founded the federal governmental powers were limited by the bill of rights. Look how much power it has taken in violation of the Constitution.

CA and NV are also largely owned by the federal government. I agree with zonkthegreat about this not directly being a gas issue (unless the purpose is to drill for oil).

Leave these forests to the states, they will be gone in a short while. Oil & gas means money to the states. If you don't mine within their state when the land sitsn on 'PROFIT', they want the land crded back to the state from the feds.
Dangerous for our future.

Not sure what this has to do was gas?
Beside this has been a western US issue for years. The state is only looking for more tax money in the end of this anyway.

How is that land currently allocated? Military bases? Reservations? National parks? Grazing? Blowing things up? If it's BLM (Bureau of Land Management), that doesn't mean it's not used.
